Writing II (Week 11): Writing a final draft with no technology

This week we’ll write one paragraph per day using pencil and paper with no technological devices. Pages to review: relative clauses, words to avoid, avoid absolutes (or boosting), writing error code list.

  • Instructions to be completed in class: Using the feedback provided to you from the Thesis statement and citation assignment in Teams completed during Week 10, consider the following:
  •  Using a pencil, write your full name, ID, and date at the top of a blank sheet of 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper.
  •  Write a fully-developed introduction paragraph (i.e., hook, background information, and thesis statement; five-to-eight sentences between 120-150 words with at least one citation according to APA) using the thesis statement that you submitted to the Thesis statement and citation assignment in Teams last week.
  •  Consider the feedback provided when writing your thesis statement and any citations.
  •  References are not required.
  •  Paraphrase any ideas coming from outside sources and use only parenthetical citations according to APA.
  •  Write in complete sentences using standard, academic (formal) English.
  •  Turn in your completed introduction paragraph along with your Thesis statement and citation assignment feedback to me. There is nothing to submit to Teams for completing this assignment.
  •  The introduction paragraph should be completed in class.
  •  No devices may be used to complete this assignment.
  • Once you have completed writing the paragraph, write the number of sentences and words that you wrote on the feedback sheet that I provide you.
  • Note: To complete this assignment, you must first submit the Thesis statement and citation assignment to Teams to receive feedback. 

Tuesday

  3.  Write a fully-developed first body paragraph (i.e., five-to-eight sentences between 120-150 words with at least one citation according to APA) based on your thesis statement that you submitted to the Thesis statement and citation assignment in Teams last week.
  4.  Consider the feedback provided when writing your thesis statement and any citations.
  5.  References are not required.
