    • Copy and paste the direct quote used to support your paraphrased evidence that you included in each of your body paragraphs to the matrix.

Examples of paraphrasing as parenthetical citations

Quote 1: Topic – Motivation

  • Direct Quote: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do” (Jobs, 2005, para. 5).
  • Paraphrase Example: Students and professionals alike must love what they do to achieve excellence. (Jobs, 2005).

Quote 2: Topic – Environment

  • Direct Quote: “The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth” (“Chief Seattle’s speech”, 2004).
  • Paraphrase Example: The perspective of humans interconnect with nature, instead of possessing ownership over it (“Chief Seattle’s speech”, 2004).

Quote 3: Topic – Philosophy

  • Direct Quote: “The unexamined life is not worth living” (Socrates, as cited in Plato, 1966, p. 38a).
  • Paraphrase Example: Socrates argued that self-reflection and critical examination are essential for a meaningful life (Socrates, as cited in Plato, 1966).

Finally, make sure each body paragraph begins with ME and concludes with AL – Refer to the MEAL plan.
  • Please do not submit your final draft to the Teams assignment until instructed to do so.
